This document describes installation and getting started steps of WFilter NG Firewall.

WFilter NG Firewall can be installed in a x86 physical PC, or in a virtual machine. Before installation, you need to choose a proper deployment mode. WFilter can act as a gateway or a network bridge.

Deployment Options:

  • WFilter NG Firewall as a network gateway, a replacement of current gateway.
  • WFilter NG Firewall as a network bridge, which bridged between current gateway and switch.
  • For pass-by deployment, please check our WFilter Enterprise.
  • WFilter NG Firewall in a virtual machine shall work in "gateway" mode.
  • For preview and testing, you may install WFilter NG Firewall in a virtual machine.
